What a Semi-Frameless Shower Screen Is
A semi-frameless shower screen has a frameless pivot door paired with a slimline aluminium frame around the fixed panels or the screen perimeter. The door itself carries no surrounding frame, while the fixed glass is held in a low-profile frame for support. Our semi-frameless screens use 6mm toughened glass and are custom-made to the measured opening.
This style sits between framed and frameless options in both look and budget. You get a cleaner, more open finish than a fully framed screen, without the higher cost of a fully frameless screen. Many homeowners choose semi-frameless showers for exactly that balance of appearance, function and value. Some people search for this as a semi-framed shower screen. The product is the same; the more accurate term is semi-frameless, because the pivot door is frameless and only the perimeter or fixed panels carry a frame.
If you are still deciding on a screen type, you can compare the full range of shower screens on the Gold Coast before settling on semi-frameless.
How Our Semi-Frameless Pivot Door Works
The pivot door is the heart of a semi-frameless screen, so we build ours to open smoothly and hold up to daily use. Each door turns on a patented captive stainless-steel pivot pin, which keeps the door aligned and supports whisper-quiet operation every time you open it. Stainless steel also resists the moisture and humidity of a Queensland bathroom.
Where suitable, the door can be set to swing in or out, so the opening suits the bathroom layout rather than working against it. We confirm the swing direction with you during the on-site measure.
Few bathroom walls are perfectly square. Because our semi-frameless screens are custom-made, the glass is cut to suit the opening. We do not rely on excess silicone inside the frame to make the screen look square or level.

The pivot pin is what keeps the door aligned and quiet over years of daily use.
Configurations to Suit Your Bathroom
We custom-build every semi-frameless shower screen to the opening we measure, so the screen suits your recess rather than forcing your bathroom to fit a standard panel. We work out the right configuration with you at the on-site measure.

The right setup depends on your layout, seals, screen position and floor fall, so we confirm the configuration and how it handles water at the on-site measure. If your bathroom is tight or you prefer a sliding door instead, see our semi-frameless sliding shower screens.
Glass and Frame Options
REGAL’s semi-frameless screens are made from 6mm toughened glass, available in Clear, Opti, Fluted, Frosted and Tinted to suit the privacy and style you want. Glass is cut, processed and toughened at the Brisbane glass plant, then the screen is custom-built at our Nerang factory. An optional water-repellent coating is also available to help your glass shed water and stay clearer between cleans. To compare the finishes side by side, see our full range of shower screen glass options.
The slimline frame on a semi-frameless screen is a finishing detail, so we make it easy to match to your tapware, fittings and bathroom palette. We offer 7 frame colours: Bright Gold, Satin Gold, Bright Silver, Matt Silver, Nickel, Black and White.
Black is the standout choice for contemporary Gold Coast bathrooms. A black semi-frameless shower screen suits black tapware and dark feature tiles, while Bright Silver, White and Matt Silver suit lighter, classic and coastal bathrooms. Other newer options are Gun Metal, Nickel & Bright Satin Gold.
If you have chrome tapware, Bright Silver and Nickel give you the same bright, polished look, and both wear well in a humid bathroom. We bring the colour options to the on-site measure so you can match the finish to your space before you commit.
Why Choose REGAL for Semi-Frameless Shower Screens
A semi-frameless screen looks simple, but the difference between a quality screen and a budget one is in the glass, hardware and build. We control all three, so the screen we fit in your bathroom is made to last, not just made to fit.
We make every screen to the exact opening we measure on site. The glass is then cut to suit and wall or floor runouts, so there is no filling with silicone in the framing to make the glass/screen appear square. We don’t use any standard imported glass.
Our semi-frameless pivot screens use 6mm toughened glass, a patented captive stainless-steel pivot pin and magnetic seal options. These are the details that keep the door aligned, quiet and contained over years of daily use.
Glass is cut, processed and toughened at the Brisbane glass plant, then the screen is custom-built at our Nerang factory. Nothing is outsourced to a third party we cannot stand behind.
The slimline frame is made from Australian aluminium in Melbourne, giving you a stronger, better-finished frame than many imported alternatives. We also hand-mitre our corners, rather than using standard square cuts and plastic corner connectors.
Safety, Standards and Installation
A shower screen is safety glass in a wet, high-traffic part of the home, so compliance is not optional and we do not treat it that way. Every semi-frameless screen we supply and install meets the relevant Australian Standards, and our own licensed team handles the fit.
We use 6mm toughened safety glass that meets AS2208. Toughened glass is heat-treated to be far stronger than ordinary glass, and if it breaks, it crumbles into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards.
Our screens are designed and installed to AS1288, the standard that covers how glass is selected and fitted in buildings. That means the right glass in the right place, fixed the right way for a bathroom.
REGAL holds QBCC licence 15201724, so the work is carried out under a licensed builder. For new builds and renovations, we can provide Form 15 and Form 43 compliance certificates where they are required.
Your screen is measured and fitted by REGAL installers, not subcontractors. The same team that quotes the job is accountable for the finished result.
