Gold Coast Shower Screens — Which Type Suits Your Bathroom?

The right shower screen depends on your bathroom size, how the space is used, and your budget. We make three main types — frameless, semi-frameless pivot, and semi-frameless sliding — plus bath screens and fixed glass panels. All custom shower screens are made to measure and installed by our own team. If you’re not sure which suits your bathroom, the comparison table below is the quickest way to work it out.

Quick decision guide

Open ensuite or larger bathroom?
→ Frameless is worth the investment

Standard bathroom, mid-range budget?
→ Semi-frameless pivot suits most bathrooms

Frameless Shower Screens

If your bathroom is an open ensuite or a larger new build with room for a hinged shower screen door to swing freely, frameless shower screens on the Gold Coast are the premium option worth considering. There’s no frame — just 10mm toughened glass held on with brackets. No tracks, no frame channels.  The glass shower screen itself feels solid and strong.

The honest trade-off: they cost more, and clear glass shows water spots readily.

BEST FOR

Open ensuites, larger bathrooms, new builds with space for a swinging door

Semi-Frameless Shower Screens

For most Gold Coast bathrooms — standard layouts, mid-range budgets, renovation or new build — semi-frameless shower screens are the practical choice. The perimeter frame is slimline. What makes ours different is the pivot door itself: fully frameless, no vertical aluminium through the glass. Only the outer perimeter has the framing.

For a bathroom renovation where budget matters, you’re not giving up much visually.

BEST FOR

Most bathroom sizes — renovations and new builds, standard layouts

Sliding Shower Screens

If your ensuite or bathroom is space-challenged and a shower screen door would conflict with the vanity, toilet, or towel rail, a sliding shower screen would be the right call for your Gold Coast bathroom. No swing clearance needed — the door travels along the track, and that’s it. Very space-saving and doesn’t compromise on appeal.

A swinging door in a tight space is a daily frustration. A sliding screen removes the problem entirely.

BEST FOR

Compact bathrooms, ensuites under ~1.5m wide, tight-clearance situations

Bath Shower Screens

For over-bath situations, our bath shower screens are purpose-built — not adapted from a standard screen. Available in frameless and semi-frameless options, custom-sized to your bath, measured on-site and installed by our own team.

Hardware & Frame Colours

Finishes That Work With Your Tapware

Finish choice comes down to two things: what works with your tapware, and what holds up over time. For frameless shower screens, we offer 11 bracket finishes. For semi-frameless screens, frame colours are detailed on each product page, as the frame system differs between pivot and sliding. With exciting new colours coming soon, there is surely something to suit all modern bathrooms.

Black and gunmetal are the most requested finishes on the Gold Coast, pairing well with black, gunmetal and charcoal tapware. Brushed Nickel, Polished Nickel, Pearl Chrome and Polished Silver suit chrome and silver tapware and remain classic, widely compatible choices. Brushed Brass, Antique Bronze and Rose Gold suit warm-toned tapware, with brushed finishes holding up better than polished in salt air. White is available for semi-frameless frames and suits white tapware and traditional bathrooms.

On the Gold Coast, brushed and powder-coated finishes tend to perform better in coastal conditions than polished ones — something worth raising when we visit for your measure.

Shower Screen Configurations

From Corner Enclosures to Shower Door Screens

Most buyers know which screen type they want before they know which configuration they need. The two decisions are different. Configuration is determined by your shower recess — how many walls it has, how open it is, and where the door needs to sit. We measure on-site and advise before any quote is produced.

Front Only Shower Screens
Front Only
A single panel or shower screen door across the opening. Suits a three-sided shower recess with walls on each side — typically an alcove shower where the opening faces one direction only.
Front & Return Shower Screen
Front & Return
A door panel plus a fixed side return. Semi-enclosed with one open side — suits bathrooms where a full corner shower enclosure isn’t needed but a front-only screen leaves too much open.
Corner Shower Screen
Corner Enclosure
Two panels meeting at 90° or angled. The right solution for a corner shower screen where the recess has two fixed sides and an opening section containing the door. Often called a “Splayed” shower screen.

Not sure which configuration you need?
Most buyers aren’t — until they’ve had their space measured properly. REGAL visits on-site, measures the exact space, and advises on the right configuration before any quote is produced.

FAQs

Gold Coast Shower Screen FAQs

Common questions from Gold Coast homeowners before requesting a quote.

Shower screen cost on the Gold Coast varies by type, size, configuration, and glass choice. For supply and install, semi-frameless shower screens typically range from $1,100,  frameless shower screens generally start from $1,600 and rise depending on configuration, size, and hardware finish. Factors like uneven walls, non-standard recess sizes, and premium glass types affect the final shower screen price. REGAL provides a quote on the day of the measure.

Shower screen installation time on-site is typically a few hours, depending on configuration and recess conditions. Lead time between your measure and installation date depends on our manufacturing schedule — ask us for current turnaround times when you book your free measure.

The key differences are glass thickness, frame presence, and price. Frameless screens use 10mm toughened glass held by brackets only — no frame. Semi-frameless screens use 6mm glass with a slimline perimeter frame and a frameless pivot or sliding door. Frameless costs more and clear glass requires more regular cleaning. See our full frameless vs semi-frameless comparison for a detailed breakdown, or our shower screen buying guide if you’re still deciding.

In most cases, yes. REGAL measures to the existing recess and manufactures each custom shower screen to those exact dimensions — no standard sizes adjusted to fit. See our shower screen replacement guide for a full overview of what’s involved.

We offer clear, Opti, Reed/fluted,  acid etch/frosted, and tinted glass across the full range. Each has different privacy, maintenance, and light transmission characteristics. See the full shower screen glass options page for details on each type.

Yes. All glass used in REGAL shower screens is toughened safety glass manufactured to AS2208 and AS1288. This is a legal requirement for shower screen installation in Australia, and every screen we make and install meets it.

For new builds and renovations going through council approval, we can also provide a Form 15 & Form 43 — Glazing (Shower Screens), confirming compliance with AS1288 (2006) glazing standards. Ask us about this when you book your measure.

Yes — REGAL offers shower screen supply and install services on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Tweed Heads. See our shower screens Brisbane page for full details on our Brisbane service area and installation coverage.

No — REGAL supplies and installs all products. Shower screen installation involves precise tolerances, waterproofing considerations, and compliance with AS2208 and AS1288. Supply-only options create liability and installation risk we’re not comfortable passing to the customer. Every screen we make is installed by our own team.

All REGAL shower screens carry a 2-year shower screen warranty. Moving parts — rollers, hinges, pivot pins — are covered for 12 months.

Cleaning a shower screen regularly with a non-abrasive cleaner is all most screens need. For frameless screens, wipe both the glass and hardware after use to prevent water spots and soap scum build-up. See our full guide on how to clean a shower screen for a complete maintenance routine.
